Videohead

Sunday afternoon. It’s what youtube was made for. Or youtube is what Sunday afternoon was made for, or both. And on the seventh day, God rested, and watched some Radiohead videos, and tried not to enjoy them too much.

1. How to Disappear Completely (2001)

A percusion-free, Ondes Martenot-heavy version, made even more superior by the fact that it takes place in Paris.

2. Motion Picture Soundtrack (2000)

The “actual” music video. The most emotive red cubes soaring gracefully across a firery mountainscape you’ll ever see.

3. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi

Live on ‘Later…With Jools Holland’, February 2008

4. Just (1995)

Another actual music video. Actually featuring the whole band, playing musical instruments from a great height and…what does that bloke say at the end? They’ve vowed never to tell us.

5. Paranoid Android (1997)

Who says Radiohead have no sense of humour? Cartoon butchery for the masses.

6. Karma Police (1997)

A personal favourite video of mine. Never has a video so perfectly captured the meaning of a song, whatever exactly it is.

7. Videotape (2007)

Thom Yorke playing ‘Videotape’ all on his ownsome. In a basement.

Have a pleasant afternoon.
